Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
इति एतत् वचनम् श्रुत्वा सुराणाम् विष्णुः आत्मवान् ।
पितरम् रोचयामास तदा दशरथम् नृपम् ॥ ॥१-१६-८॥
Iti etat vacanam śrutvā surāṇām Viṣṇuḥ ātmavān । Pitaram rocayāmāsa tadā Daśaratham nṛpam ॥ ॥1-16-8॥
Translation
Hearing these words of the gods, the self-controlled Vishnu chose King Dasharatha as His father.

देवताओं के ये वचन सुनकर, आत्मस्वरूप में स्थित (आत्मवान) भगवान विष्णु ने तब राजा दशरथ को पिता के रूप में चुन लिया।
English Commentary
This confirms the synchronization of the divine will with the necessary conditions. Upon confirming that a "human" is required, Vishnu finalizes Dasharatha as the vessel. The term Ātmavān reinforces that Vishnu retains his divine sovereignty and self-command even as he agrees to enter a mortal womb. The plan shifts from strategy to execution.

यह श्लोक पुष्टि करता है कि "मनुष्य" की शर्त सुनने के बाद विष्णु ने दशरथ का चयन अंतिम रूप से कर लिया। 'आत्मवान' विशेषण पुनः यह याद दिलाता है कि विष्णु किसी मजबूरी में नहीं, बल्कि अपनी स्वतंत्र इच्छा और नियंत्रण से यह निर्णय ले रहे हैं। योजना अब सिद्धांत (Theory) से क्रियान्वयन (Execution) की ओर बढ़ रही है।
