पुत्रत्वम् तु गते विष्णौ राज्ञः तस्य महात्मनः ।
उवाच देवताः सर्वाः स्वयंभूः भगवान् इदम् ॥ ॥१-१७-१॥
putratvam tu gate viṣṇau rājñaḥ tasya mahātmanaḥ |
uvāca devatāḥ sarvāḥ svayaṃbhūḥ bhagavān idam ॥1-17-1॥
Translation
When Vishnu had agreed to become the son of that high-souled King, the Self-born Lord (Brahma) spoke these words to all the gods:

जब भगवान विष्णु उस महात्मा राजा (दशरथ) का पुत्र बनना स्वीकार कर चुके, तब भगवान स्वयंभू (ब्रह्मा) ने समस्त देवताओं से यह वचन कहा:
English Commentary
The narrative shifts from the earthly palace back to the celestial council. With the incarnation of Vishnu as Dasharatha's son confirmed (putratvam tu gate), the cosmic machinery turns to the next phase: logistics. Brahma, the Creator (Svayambhu), addresses the other deities. This verse sets the stage for the creation of the Vanaras (monkeys/divine helpers). It highlights that the Avatar does not act alone; the entire pantheon must descend in various forms to assist in the mission against Ravana.

यहाँ से कथा का दृश्य अयोध्या से हटकर पुनः देवलोक की ओर जाता है। 'पुत्रत्वम् तु गते विष्णौ'—यह पुष्टि करता है कि विष्णु का अवतार लेना निश्चित हो चुका है। अब ब्रह्मा जी ('स्वयंभू' - जो स्वयं प्रकट हुए हैं) आगे की योजना बनाते हैं। राम का अवतार अकेले सफल नहीं होगा; उन्हें पृथ्वी पर सहायकों की आवश्यकता होगी। इसलिए ब्रह्मा जी देवताओं को संबोधित करते हैं। यह श्लोक रामायण के एक अन्य महत्वपूर्ण पक्ष—वानर सेना की उत्पत्ति—की भूमिका है।
