Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
सर्व वानर मुख्येषु बुद्धिमान् बलवान् अपि ।
ते सृष्टा बहु साहस्रा दशग्रीव वधे उद्यताः ॥ ॥१-१७-१७॥
Sarva vānara mukhyeṣu buddhimān balavān api । Te sṛṣṭā bahu sāhasrā Daśagrīva vadhe udyatāḥ ॥ ॥1-17-17॥
Translation
Among all the Vanara chiefs, he (Hanuman) was the most intelligent and powerful. Thus, many thousands were created, all ready and eager for the slaying of the Ten-headed Ravana.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वे (हनुमान) समस्त वानर यूथपतियों में सर्वाधिक बुद्धिमान और बलवान थे। (इस प्रकार) रावण (दशग्रीव) के वध के लिए तत्पर हजारों वानर उत्पन्न किए गए।
English Commentary
This verse serves two purposes: it crowns Hanuman as the superior combination of intellect (buddhi) and strength (bala) among all chiefs, and it explicitly states the teleological purpose of these births. The phrase Dashagriva vadhe udyatah (uplifted/prepared for the killing of the Ten-necked one) confirms that these beings were not random creations of nature but a calculated divine intervention. The sheer volume ("many thousands") emphasizes the scale of the divine mobilization required to counter the threat of Ravana.

यहाँ हनुमान जी की विशिष्टता ('बुद्धिमान' और 'बलवान') को पुनः रेखांकित किया गया है। प्रायः बल के साथ बुद्धि का संयोग दुर्लभ होता है, परन्तु हनुमान जी में 'बुद्धिमताम् वरिष्ठम्' (बुद्धिमानों में श्रेष्ठ) होने का गुण है। श्लोक का उत्तरार्ध इस सृष्टि का उद्देश्य स्पष्ट करता है—'दशग्रीव वधे'। यह वानर सेना कोई साधारण पशु-समूह नहीं थी; यह एक 'मिशन' के साथ जन्मी दैवीय सेना थी। उनका जन्म ही अधर्म (रावण) का नाश करने और धर्म (राम) की सहायता करने के लिए हुआ था।
