भ्रातरौ उपतस्थुः ते सर्वे च हरि यूथपाः ।
नलम् नीलम् हनूमन्तम् अन्यांश्च हरि यूथपान् ॥ ॥१-१७-३३॥
Bhrātarau upatasthuḥ te sarve ca hari yūthapāḥ । Nalam Nīlam Hanūmantam anyāṃśca hari yūthapān ॥ ॥1-17-33॥
Translation
All those Vanara commanders rallied around and served the two brothers (Vali and Sugriva), as well as Nala, Nila, Hanuman, and other Vanara chiefs.

English Commentary
This verse delineates the command structure of the newly formed Vanara host. While Vali and Sugriva (the royal brothers) were the central figures of authority, other specific leaders like Nala, Nila, and Hanuman were also accorded high status. It implies a structured society where lesser chieftains served under greater generals. This organization was crucial; despite their animalistic nature, they operated with military discipline, acknowledging rank and leadership—a prerequisite for the successful campaign against Lanka that follows.

यह श्लोक वानर साम्राज्य के नेतृत्व ढांचे को अंतिम रूप देता है। यद्यपि हजारों वीर पैदा हुए, लेकिन शक्ति का केंद्र सुव्यवस्थित था। वे सभी मुख्य रूप से दो भाइयों—इन्द्र पुत्र वाली और सूर्य पुत्र सुग्रीव—के अधीन संगठित हुए। इसके अतिरिक्त, नल (विश्वकर्मा पुत्र), नील (अग्नि पुत्र) और हनुमान (वायु पुत्र) को भी विशेष सम्मान और नेतृत्व का दर्जा प्राप्त था। यह पदानुक्रम (hierarchy) ही बाद में राम को एक अनुशासित सेना प्रदान करने में सहायक सिद्ध हुआ, न कि केवल एक अनियंत्रित भीड़।
