Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
ते तार्क्ष्य बल संपन्नाः सर्वे युद्ध विशारदाः ।
विचरन्तोऽर्दयन् सर्वान् सिंह व्याघ्र महोरगान् ॥ ॥१-१७-३४॥
Te tārkṣya bala saṃpannāḥ sarve yuddha viśāradāḥ । Vicaranto'rdayan sarvān siṃha vyāghra mahoragān ॥ ॥1-17-34॥
Translation
Endowed with strength comparable to Garuda (Tarkshya) and skilled in warfare, they roamed about, crushing lions, tigers, and mighty serpents.
हिंदी अनुवाद
गरुड़ के समान बल से संपन्न और युद्ध में कुशल वे सभी वानर, वनों में विचरण करते हुए सिंह, व्याघ्र (बाघ) और बड़े-बड़े साँपों को कुचलने (सताने) लगे।
English Commentary
The prowess of the Vanaras is benchmarked against the apex predators of the wild. Possessing the power of Garuda (the eagle deity who hunts snakes), they dominated lions, tigers, and great serpents (Mahoragas). This establishes their supremacy over the animal kingdom. They were not fleeing prey but dominant warriors (Yuddha visharadah) who tamed the wilderness. This dominance serves as a training ground for their eventual battle against the Rakshasas, who are often described with similar predatory metaphors.

यहाँ वानरों की 'तार्क्ष्य' (गरुड़) जैसी शक्ति का पुनः उल्लेख है। जंगल में शेर, बाघ और साँप सबसे खतरनाक शिकारी माने जाते हैं, लेकिन ये दैवीय वानर इतने शक्तिशाली थे कि उन्होंने इन शिकारियों को ही अपना शिकार बना लिया या उन्हें दबा दिया। यह दर्शाता है कि उनका बल प्राकृतिक खाद्य श्रृंखला (food chain) से ऊपर था। वे 'युद्ध विशारद' (युद्ध कला में निपुण) थे, जिसका अर्थ है कि वे केवल बल का प्रयोग नहीं करते थे, बल्कि तकनीक भी जानते थे।
