Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
यथा अर्हम् पूजिताः तेन राज्ञा च पृथिवीश्वराः ।
मुदिताः प्रययुः देशान् प्रणम्य मुनि पुंगवम् ॥ ॥१-१८-३॥
Yathā arham pūjitāḥ tena rājñā ca pṛthivīśvarāḥ । Muditāḥ prayayuḥ deśān praṇamya muni puṃgavam ॥ ॥1-18-3॥
Translation
The kings of the earth, having been honored suitably by King Dasharatha, bowed to the eminent sage and departed joyfully to their respective countries.
हिंदी अनुवाद
राजा दशरथ द्वारा यथोचित सत्कार पाकर, वे पृथ्वी के अन्य राजा (जो अतिथि थे) मुनि श्रेष्ठ (ऋष्यशृंग/वशिष्ठ) को प्रणाम करके प्रसन्नतापूर्वक अपने-अपने देशों को लौट गए।
English Commentary
This describes the diplomatic conclusion of the event. The visiting monarchs, termed Prithivishvarah (Lords of the Earth), leave satisfied, highlighting Dasharatha's generosity and diplomatic etiquette. Bowing to the Muni pungavam (eminent sage, likely Rishyashringa) underscores the supremacy of spiritual authority over temporal power in the Vedic context. A successful Yajna satisfies both the celestial gods and earthly kings.

अश्वमेध यज्ञ में बुलाए गए अन्य राजाओं की विदाई का वर्णन है। दशरथ का आतिथ्य धर्म यहाँ दिखता है—'यथा अर्हम् पूजिताः' (योग्यता अनुसार सत्कार)। अतिथियों का 'मुदिताः' (प्रसन्न) होकर जाना यज्ञ की सफलता का एक और संकेत है। मुनि पुंगव (संभवतः ऋष्यशृंग, जिन्होंने यज्ञ कराया) को प्रणाम करना, आध्यात्मिक सत्ता के प्रति क्षत्रिय राजाओं के सम्मान को दर्शाता है।
