इच्छाम् अनुगृहीतो अहम् त्वदर्थम् परिवृद्धये।
कार्यस्य न विमर्शम् च गंतुम् अर्हसि सुव्रत ॥१-१८-५७॥
Icchām anugṛhīto aham tvadartham parivṛddhaye। Kāryasya na vimarśam ca gantum arhasi suvrata ॥ ॥1-18-57॥
Translation
I wish to be favored by fulfilling your desire to ensure the success of your purpose. O Sage of noble vows, you ought not to hesitate regarding the task.
हिंदी अनुवाद
मैं आपकी इच्छा पूरी करके स्वयं अनुग्रहित (कृतार्थ) होना चाहता हूँ ताकि आपका कार्य सिद्ध हो। हे उत्तम व्रत वाले मुनि! आप कार्य के विषय में तनिक भी संकोच (विचार) न करें।
English Commentary
Dasharatha assures Vishvamitra that executing the Sage's will is a favor to the King himself ('anugrihito aham'), not the other way around. He addresses the Sage as 'Suvrata' (one of noble vows). By saying "do not hesitate" ('na vimarsham'), Dasharatha effectively offers unconditional support. He is confident in his resources and devotion. However, this enthusiastic, unquestioning commitment sets the stage for the dramatic conflict to follow. Dasharatha is unknowingly binding himself to a promise that will test his attachment to his son, Rama, to the breaking point.

राजा दशरथ विश्वामित्र को 'सुव्रत' (सुंदर या कठोर व्रत का पालन करने वाले) कहते हैं। दशरथ का भाव यह है कि ऋषि की सेवा करना राजा पर कोई बोझ नहीं, बल्कि राजा का ही सौभाग्य ('अनुगृहीतो अहम्') है। 'न विमर्शम्'—अर्थात् संकोच मत कीजिए। दशरथ एक तरह से ऋषि को 'खाली चेक' (blank cheque) दे रहे हैं। वे अपनी निष्ठा और सामर्थ्य के उत्साह में यह नहीं सोच रहे कि ऋषि क्या मांग सकते हैं। यह असीमित समर्पण ही आगे चलकर दशरथ के लिए धर्मसंकट का कारण बनता है जब विश्वामित्र राम को मांगते हैं।
