अहम् ते प्रति जानामि हतौ तौ विद्धि राक्षसौ ।
अहम् वेद्मि महात्मानम् रामम् सत्य पराक्रमम् ॥ ॥१-१९-१४॥
Aham te prati jānāmi hatau tau viddhi rākṣasau । Aham vedmi mahātmānam rāmam satya parākramam ॥ ॥1-19-14॥
Translation
I pledge to you: consider those two demons already dead. I know the high-souled Rama and his true, unfailing valor.
हिंदी अनुवाद
मैं आपको प्रतिज्ञापूर्वक भरोसा दिलाता हूँ, उन दोनों राक्षसों को आप मरा हुआ ही समझिये। मैं महात्मा राम और उनके सत्य-पराक्रम को (भली-भाँति) जानता हूँ।
English Commentary
This is one of the most iconic lines in the Ramayana. Aham vedmi mahatmanam Ramam—"I know the true nature of the great soul Rama." While Dasharatha sees a tender 16-year-old boy, the enlightened Sage sees the Avatar and the supreme power within. Vishwamitra's assertion to "consider the demons dead" reflects the power of a Rishi's Sankalpa (resolve)—once the divine will is aligned with the instrument (Rama), the outcome is a foregone conclusion.
