वसिष्ठोऽपि महातेजा ये च इमे तपसि स्थिताः ।
यदि ते धर्म लाभम् तु यशः च परमम् भुवि ॥ ॥१-१९-१५॥
Vasiṣṭho'pi mahātejā ye ca ime tapasi sthitāḥ । Yadi te dharma lābham tu yaśaḥ ca paramam bhuvi ॥ ॥1-19-15॥

The highly radiant Vasistha and these other ascetics who abide in penance also know him. If you desire the accumulation of merit (Dharma) and supreme fame on earth...
हिंदी अनुवाद
महातेजस्वी वसिष्ठ जी और ये अन्य तपस्वी भी (राम के प्रभाव को) जानते हैं। यदि आप पृथ्वी पर धर्म-लाभ और परम यश की इच्छा रखते हैं (तो राम को भेज दें)।
English Commentary
Recognizing Dasharatha's persistent hesitation, Vishwamitra appeals to authority. He invokes Vasistha, Dasharatha’s own family preceptor and a sage of equal stature. By stating that Vasistha and other ascetics also know Rama's true potential, Vishwamitra validates his claim externally. This is a powerful diplomatic move; Dasharatha may doubt a guest, but he cannot easily dismiss the wisdom of his own Guru.

जब विश्वामित्र को लगता है कि उनकी बात पर्याप्त नहीं है, तो वे 'साक्षी' (Witness) का सहारा लेते हैं। वे दशरथ के कुलगुरु वसिष्ठ का नाम लेते हैं। वसिष्ठ और विश्वामित्र के बीच पुराना बैर था, लेकिन यहाँ विश्वामित्र वसिष्ठ के ज्ञान का सम्मान करते हैं और कहते हैं कि "वसिष्ठ भी जानते हैं कि राम कौन हैं।" यह दशरथ के लिए अंतिम तर्क है—यदि उनके अपने गुरु भी सहमत हैं, तो उन्हें मना नहीं करना चाहिए।
