स्थिरम् इच्छसि राजेन्द्र रामम् मे दातुम् अर्हसि ।
यदि अभ्यनुज्ञाम् काकुत्स्थ ददते तव मंत्रिणः ॥ ॥१-१९-१६॥
Sthiram icchasi rājendra rāmam me dātum arhasi । Yadi abhyanujñām kākutstha dadate tava maṃtriṇaḥ ॥ ॥1-19-16॥
Translation
...and if you wish for that fame to be steadfast, O King of Kings, you should give Rama to me. (Do so) if your ministers and advisors give their permission.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे राजेन्द्र! यदि आप उस यश को स्थिर रखना चाहते हैं, तो राम को मुझे सौंप दीजिये। (परंतु) यदि आपके मंत्री और वसिष्ठ आदि अनुमति दें, (तभी दें)।
English Commentary
Vishwamitra concludes his request with impeccable etiquette and strategy. Instead of demanding, he adds a condition: "If your ministers permit." He knows well that wise counselors like Vasistha will support the request, seeing the spiritual and political benefits. This softens the blow for Dasharatha, making it a state decision rather than just a personal sacrifice. The Sage emphasizes that parting with Rama is the only way to ensure Dasharatha's fame remains Sthiram (steadfast/permanent).

विश्वामित्र अपनी बात समाप्त करते हुए कूटनीति और शिष्टाचार का परिचय देते हैं। यद्यपि वे आदेश दे सकते थे, वे कहते हैं, "यदि आपके मंत्री अनुमति दें।" वे जानते हैं कि वसिष्ठ और सुमंत जैसे ज्ञानी मंत्री कभी भी इस प्रस्ताव को ठुकराएंगे नहीं क्योंकि वे धर्म और भविष्य को समझते हैं। यह दशरथ पर दबाव कम करने और निर्णय को 'राज्य की सहमति' का रूप देने का तरीका है। विश्वामित्र दशरथ को याद दिलाते हैं कि राम को देने से ही उनकी कीर्ति 'स्थिर' रहेगी।
