इति हृदय मनो विदारणम् मुनि वचनम् तद् अतीव शुश्रुवान् ।
नरपतिः अभवत् महान् महात्मा व्यथित मनाः प्रचचाल च असनात् ॥ ॥१-१९-२२॥
Iti hṛdaya mano vidāraṇam Muni vacanam tad atīva śuśruvān । Narapatiḥ abhavat mahān mahātmā vyathita manāḥ pracacāla ca asanāt ॥ ॥1-19-22॥
Translation
Hearing those words of the sage, which tore apart his heart and mind, the great and noble King became extremely distressed and slipped from his seat.

मुनि के वे वचन हृदय और मन को विदीर्ण करने वाले (चीरने वाले) थे। उन्हें सुनकर वह महान और महात्मा राजा अत्यंत व्यथित हो गया और अपने आसन से विचलित हो (लुढ़क) गया।
English Commentary
The phrase hridaya mano vidaranam (tearing apart the heart and mind) powerfully conveys the impact of the request. It was an assault on Dasharatha's emotional core. Despite being a Mahatma (great soul) and a noble king accustomed to difficult decisions, this specific demand was too heavy to bear. Falling or slipping from his seat (asanat) symbolizes the collapse of his kingly composure. This verse concludes the 19th Sarga by highlighting the intense conflict between the duty to the sage and the love for the son.
