Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
अथ उपविश्य भगवान् आसने परम अर्चिते ।
वाल्मीकये च ऋषये सन्दिदेश आसनम् ततः ॥ ॥१-२-२६॥
atha upaviśya bhagavān āsane parama arcite |
vālmīkaye ca ṛṣaye sandideśa āsanam tataḥ ॥1-2-26॥
Translation
Then, the Lord (Brahma) sat down on that highly honored seat. Thereafter, He motioned to Sage Valmiki to take a seat as well.

फिर भगवान् परम पूज्य आसन पर बैठ गए। उसके बाद उन्होंने ऋषि वाल्मीकि को भी आसन लेने के लिए संकेत किया।
English Commentary
This verse illustrates the process of Lord Brahma taking his seat. Here, the seat is referred to as 'highly honored', indicating that this seat is not just an ordinary piece of furniture, but it transforms into an altar in the context of Vedic practice. By sitting on it, Brahma signifies his acceptance of the worship and devotion that Valmiki has offered. The word 'sandideśa' highlights the strict etiquette that governs the relationship between a Guru and disciple or between a deity and devotee. Brahma explicitly commanded Valmiki to take his seat, indicating respect for Valmiki's stance in the divine presence.
