इमे शूराः च विक्रान्ता भृत्याः मे अस्त्र विशारदाः ।
योग्या रक्षोगणैः योद्धुम् न रामम् नेतुम् अर्हसि ॥ ॥१-२०-४॥
Ime śūrāḥ ca vikrāntā bhṛtyāḥ me astra viśāradāḥ । Yogyā rakṣogaṇaiḥ yoddhum na rāmam netum arhasi ॥ ॥1-20-4॥
Translation
These soldiers of mine are brave, valiant, and skilled in the use of weapons. They are capable of fighting the hordes of Rakshasas. It is not appropriate for you to take Rama.
हिंदी अनुवाद
मेरे ये सैनिक शूरवीर हैं, पराक्रमी हैं और अस्त्र-शस्त्र विद्या में निपुण हैं। ये राक्षसों के समूह से लड़ने में समर्थ हैं। (अतः) आप राम को ले जाने का आग्रह न करें।
English Commentary
Continuing his plea, Dasharatha extols the quality of his troops. They are not just numerous but Vikranta (valiant) and Astra-visharada (experts in weaponry). He attempts to logically dismantle Vishvamitra's request by proving that the mission's objective (killing demons) can be better achieved by his professional soldiers. The plea culminates in the statement "You ought not to take Rama," where Dasharatha moves from offering alternatives to explicitly asking the Sage to drop the idea regarding his son.

दशरथ अपने तर्कों को जारी रखते हुए अपनी सेना की गुणवत्ता का वर्णन करते हैं। वे केवल संख्या में ज्यादा नहीं हैं, बल्कि 'अस्त्र विशारदाः' (हथियारों के विशेषज्ञ) भी हैं। दशरथ का उद्देश्य यह सिद्ध करना है कि राक्षसों को हराने के लिए जिस कौशल की आवश्यकता है, वह उनकी सेना में है, न कि बालक राम में। अंतिम पंक्ति 'न रामम् नेतुम् अर्हसि' (राम को ले जाना उचित नहीं है) में दशरथ की याचना अब एक दृढ़ इनकार में बदल रही है। वे हर हाल में ऋषि को मना करने का आधार तैयार कर रहे हैं।
