एष विग्रहवान् धर्म एष वीर्यवताम् वरः ।
एष विद्य अधिको लोके तपसः च परायणम् ॥ ॥१-२१-१०॥
Eṣa vigrahavān dharma eṣa vīryavatām varaḥ |
Eṣa vidya adhiko loke tapasaḥ ca parāyaṇam ॥1-21-10॥
Translation
"He is Dharma incarnate (in human form); he is the best among the powerful. He is supreme in knowledge in this world and the ultimate abode of asceticism."

"यह (विश्वामित्र) साक्षात् मूर्तिमान धर्म हैं। यह वीरों में श्रेष्ठ हैं। यह बुद्धि/विद्या में संसार में सबसे अधिक हैं और तपस्या के परम आश्रय हैं।"
English Commentary
Vasistha reveals Vishwamitra's true nature to the King. Dasharatha saw only an angry sage; Vasistha sees Vigrahavan Dharma (Dharma embodied). He highlights a rare combination: Vishwamitra possesses the valor of a warrior (viryavatam varah) and the supreme wisdom of a sage. Vasistha argues that Vishwamitra is the ultimate authority on both martial arts and asceticism, implying that Rama is being handed over to the best teacher in the universe.

वसिष्ठ अब विश्वामित्र का वास्तविक परिचय राजा को देते हैं। दशरथ विश्वामित्र को केवल एक 'क्रोधी ब्राह्मण' समझ रहे थे। वसिष्ठ बताते हैं कि विश्वामित्र 'विग्रहवान धर्म' (शरीर धारण किये हुए धर्म) हैं। वे क्षत्रिय बल और ब्राह्मण तप दोनों का मिश्रण हैं। 'वीर्यवताम् वरः' कहकर वसिष्ठ याद दिलाते हैं कि विश्वामित्र कभी महान राजा थे, इसलिए वे युद्ध और तप दोनों में सर्वश्रेष्ठ हैं। ऐसे व्यक्ति के साथ राम का जाना सौभाग्य है, जोखिम नहीं।
