Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
न देवा न ऋषयः के चित् न अमरा न च राक्षसाः ।
गन्धर्व यक्ष प्रवराः स किन्नर महोरगाः ॥ ॥१-२१-१२॥
Na devā na ṛṣayaḥ ke cit na amarā na ca rākṣasāḥ |
Gandharva yakṣa pravarāḥ sa kinnara mahoragāḥ ॥1-21-12॥
Translation
"Neither the gods, nor the rishis, nor the immortals, nor the demons, nor the chiefs of Gandharvas and Yakshas, nor the Kinnaras or great serpents (possess such knowledge)."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"न देवता, न ऋषि, न अन्य अमर, न राक्षस, न गन्धर्वों और यक्षों के मुखिया, और न ही किन्नर या बड़े नाग (उन अस्त्रों को वैसे जानते हैं जैसे विश्वामित्र जानते हैं)।"
English Commentary
Vasistha lists the hierarchy of celestial and terrestrial beings—Gods, Demons, Yakshas, Nagas—to assert Vishwamitra’s dominance. By stating that the sage's knowledge surpasses all these powerful entities, Vasistha logically dismantles Dasharatha’s fear. If Vishwamitra outclasses the very species Dasharatha is afraid of (Rakshasas), then the threat to Rama is practically non-existent under the sage's watch.

यह पिछले श्लोक की निरंतरता है। वसिष्ठ सृष्टि की सभी शक्तिशाली प्रजातियों—देव, दानव, यक्ष, नाग आदि—की सूची गिनाते हैं और कहते हैं कि अस्त्र विद्या में विश्वामित्र इन सबसे ऊपर हैं। यह दशरथ के मन से राक्षसों का भय निकालने के लिए है। यदि विश्वामित्र राक्षसों और देवताओं से भी श्रेष्ठ अस्त्र-ज्ञाता हैं, तो मारीच और सुबाहु उनके सामने तुच्छ हैं।
