Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
तथा वसिष्टे ब्रुवति राजा दशरथः स्वयम् ।
प्रहृष्ट वदनो रामम् आजुहाव स लक्ष्मणम् ॥ ॥१-२२-१॥
Tathā vasiṣṭe bruvati rājā daśarathaḥ svayam । Prahṛṣṭa vadano rāmam ājuhāva sa lakṣmaṇam ॥ ॥1-22-1॥
Translation
While Vasistha was speaking thus, King Dasharatha, with a cheerful countenance, himself called for Rama and Lakshmana.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वशिष्ठ जी के ऐसा कहने पर, राजा दशरथ ने प्रसन्न मुख होकर स्वयं राम और लक्ष्मण को बुलाया।
English Commentary
This verse opens Sarga 22. The transformation in Dasharatha is complete; he acts immediately while Vasistha is still speaking (bruvati), showing his eagerness to comply now that his doubts are cleared. His face is "beaming with joy" (prahṛṣṭa vadano). Interestingly, although only Rama was requested, Dasharatha summons Lakshmana as well. This subtle detail underscores the inseparable bond between the two brothers. The King knows intuitively that wherever Rama goes, Lakshmana must follow, serving as his guardian and companion.

यहाँ से वाल्मीकि रामायण का 22वां सर्ग (अध्याय) प्रारंभ होता है। वातावरण में पूर्ण परिवर्तन आ गया है। राजा का चेहरा अब 'प्रहृष्ट वदनो' (अत्यंत हर्षित) है। महत्वपूर्ण बात यह है कि विश्वामित्र ने केवल राम को माँगा था, लेकिन दशरथ ने राम के साथ लक्ष्मण को भी बुलाया। यह दशरथ की पैतृक समझ है कि राम लक्ष्मण के बिना अधूरे हैं और लक्ष्मण राम के बिना नहीं रह सकते। यह भाईचारे के उस आदर्श की शुरुआत है जहाँ लक्ष्मण साये की तरह राम के साथ वन-वन डोलेंगे।
