Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
प्रदातुम् तव काकुत्थ्स सदृशः त्वम् हि पार्थिव ।
कामम् बहुगुणाः सर्वे त्वयि एते न अत्र संशयः ॥ ॥१-२२-१९॥
Pradātum tava kākutthsa sadṛśaḥ tvam hi pārthiva । Kāmam bahuguṇāḥ sarve tvayi ete na atra saṃśayaḥ ॥ ॥1-22-19॥
Translation
"O Kakutstha! O Prince! You are indeed the worthy recipient for me to bestow these upon. Although you undoubtedly possess all these manifold virtues already, (these mantras will enhance them)."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"हे काकुत्स्थ! हे राजकुमार! मैं तुम्हें ये विद्याएं देने के लिए उत्सुक हूँ, क्योंकि तुम ही इनके योग्य पात्र हो। यद्यपि तुममें पहले से ही बहुत से गुण हैं, इसमें कोई संदेह नहीं (किन्तु ये विद्याएं उन्हें और चमका देंगी)।"
English Commentary
This verse emphasizes the concept of Adhikara (qualification/eligibility). Knowledge is only given to a fit vessel. Vishwamitra asserts that Rama is the rightful heir to this wisdom. By acknowledging Rama's existing virtues (bahugunah), the Sage clarifies that he is not "teaching" Rama how to be great, but rather unlocking or augmenting the greatness that is already latent within him.

गुरु-शिष्य परंपरा में 'पात्रता' (worthiness) महत्वपूर्ण है। विद्या हर किसी को नहीं दी जाती। विश्वामित्र कहते हैं कि राम 'सदृशः' (योग्य/समान) हैं। यह ऋषि की विनम्रता और राम की महानता दोनों को दर्शाता है। वे मानते हैं कि राम पहले से गुणवान हैं, ये मंत्र केवल मणि में चमक लाने जैसा कार्य करेंगे।
