Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
पुष्प वृष्टिः महती आसीत् देव दुन्दुभि निःस्वनैः ।
शङ्ख दुन्दुभि निर्घोषः प्रयाते तु महात्मनि ॥ ॥१-२२-५॥
Puṣpa vṛṣṭiḥ mahatī āsīt deva dundubhi niḥsvanaiḥ । Śaṅkha dundubhi nirghoṣaḥ prayāte tu mahātmani ॥ ॥1-22-5॥
Translation
As the high-souled one (Rama) departed, there was a great shower of flowers accompanied by the sound of celestial drums. Simultaneously, the loud resonance of conch shells and kettledrums filled the air.
हिंदी अनुवाद
जब महात्मा (राम) ने प्रस्थान किया, तब देवताओं की दुन्दुभियों की ध्वनि के साथ भारी पुष्प वर्षा हुई। उस समय शंख और नगाड़ों का भी भारी घोष (ध्वनि) हो रहा था।
English Commentary
This verse captures the cosmic significance of Rama's departure. It was not merely a prince leaving a city, but a divine event celebrated by the celestials. The "rain of flowers" and "celestial drums" signify approval and blessings from the heavens. The noise of conches and drums on earth mirrors the celebration in the sky, creating a symphony of anticipation. The term Mahatmani (high-souled) suggests that even at this young age, Rama's spiritual stature was recognized as he embarked on his mission to protect dharma.

यह श्लोक उस क्षण की दिव्यता को दर्शाता है जब श्री राम अपने पहले महान कार्य के लिए अयोध्या से निकले। 'पुष्प वृष्टि' और 'देव दुन्दुभि' (देवताओं के नगाड़े) यह संकेत देते हैं कि यह साधारण यात्रा नहीं थी। प्रकृति और देवता भी जानते थे कि दुष्टों के संहार का समय आ गया है, इसलिए उन्होंने इस प्रस्थान का उत्सव मनाया। यहाँ 'महात्मनि' शब्द का प्रयोग राम के भावी स्वरूप को इंगित करता है। यह दृश्य अयोध्यावासियों के उत्साह और देवताओं के आशीर्वाद का मिश्रण है。
