विज्ञाय परम प्रीता मुनयो हर्षम् आगमन् ।
अर्घ्यम् पाद्यम् तथा आतिथ्यम् निवेद्य कुशिकात्मजे ॥ ॥१-२३-१९॥
vijñāya parama prītā munayo harṣam āgaman |
arghyam pādyam tathā ātithyam nivedya kuśikātmaje ॥1-23-19॥
Translation
Having recognized them, the sages were extremely pleased and filled with joy. They offered Arghya (water for hands), Padya (water for feet), and hospitality to the son of Kushika (Vishwamitra).

उन्हें जान लेने पर मुनि परम प्रसन्न हुए और हर्षित हो गए। उन्होंने कुशिकनंदन (विश्वामित्र) को अर्घ्य, पाद्य और आतिथ्य समर्पित किया।
English Commentary
Upon recognizing Vishwamitra, the sages were filled with delight. This verse details the standard Vedic protocol of hospitality: offering 'Arghya' (water for washing hands) and 'Padya' (water for washing feet) to the guest. Vishwamitra is referred to as "Kushikatmaje" (descendant of Kushika). It highlights the mutual respect and camaraderie that existed among sages of different orders in ancient India.
