Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
वारी संक्षोभजो राम प्रणामम् नियतः कुरु ।
ताभ्याम् तु तावुभौ कृत्वा प्रणामम् अतिधार्मिकौ ॥ ॥१-२४-११॥
Vāri saṃkṣobhajo rāma praṇāmam niyataḥ kuru । Tābhyām tu tāvubhau kṛtvā praṇāmam atidhārmikau ॥ ॥1-24-11॥
Translation
"O Rama, with a focused mind, offer your salutations to the sound born from the churning waters." Thereupon, those two exceedingly righteous brothers offered their obeisance.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे राम! जल के इस संघर्ष (संगम) से उत्पन्न ध्वनि को एकाग्रचित्त होकर प्रणाम करो। तब उन दोनों अति धर्मात्मा भाइयों (राम और लक्ष्मण) ने उस संगम को प्रणाम किया।
English Commentary
This verse illustrates the ideal Guru-Shishya relationship and the deep respect for nature in Sanatana Dharma. Even though Rama is of divine lineage, he strictly follows the etiquette of a student, bowing to the river confluence at Vishvamitra's command. The term atidharmikau (exceedingly righteous) emphasizes that Rama and Lakshmana were not just warriors but strictly adhered to spiritual protocols. Bowing to the river acknowledges the living divinity within the elements of nature.

यहाँ गुरु-शिष्य परंपरा और प्रकृति के प्रति सम्मान का सुंदर उदाहरण है। यद्यपि राम स्वयं ईश्वरीय अवतार हैं, फिर भी वे एक आदर्श शिष्य की भाँति विश्वामित्र की आज्ञा का पालन करते हैं। नदियों के संगम को देवता तुल्य मानकर प्रणाम करना भारतीय संस्कृति का अभिन्न अंग है। 'अतिधार्मिकौ' शब्द राम और लक्ष्मण के चरित्र को उजागर करता है, यह बताते हुए कि वे न केवल वीर थे, बल्कि धर्म और शिष्टाचार के पालन में भी श्रेष्ठ थे।
