ततो देशस्य सुप्रीतो वरम् प्रादाद् अनुत्तमम् ।
इमौ जनपदौ स्फीतौ ख्यातिम् लोके गमिष्यतः ॥ ॥१-२४-२२॥
Tato deśasya suprīto varam prādād anuttamam । Imau janapadau sphītau khyātim loke gamiṣyataḥ ॥ ॥1-24-22॥
Translation
Thereupon, highly pleased, Indra bestowed an incomparable boon upon this region: "These two districts shall become prosperous and attain great fame throughout the world."

तदनन्तर, इन्द्र ने अत्यंत प्रसन्न होकर इस देश को एक उत्तम वर दिया: "ये दोनों जनपद अत्यंत समृद्ध होंगे और संसार में विख्यात होंगे।"
English Commentary
Indra demonstrates divine gratitude here. Instead of despising the land that held his filth, he blesses it. The word Sphitau implies that the lands became swollen with wealth, agriculture, and prosperity. This verse serves as a sharp contrast to the current state of the land (which is terrorized by Tataka). Vishvamitra is painting a picture of "paradise lost" to motivate Rama. It illustrates the principle that even a burden (like absorbing sin) can result in a blessing if accepted as a service to the divine.

इन्द्र कृतज्ञता व्यक्त करना जानते हैं। चूँकि इस भूमि ने उनका मैल अपने ऊपर ले लिया था, इसलिए उन्होंने इसे श्राप देने के बजाय वरदान दिया। यह भारतीय दर्शन का एक सुंदर पक्ष है कि सेवा, चाहे वह किसी के पाप या गंदगी को धोने की ही क्यों न हो, कभी व्यर्थ नहीं जाती। 'स्फीतौ' का अर्थ है फला-फूला या समृद्ध। इन्द्र की वाणी से यह स्थान धन-धान्य से पूर्ण हो गया। विश्वामित्र राम को यह बता रहे हैं ताकि राम समझ सकें कि जो जगह अभी डरावनी दिख रही है, वह मूल रूप से कितनी पवित्र और समृद्ध थी।
