देशस्य पूजाम् ताम् दृष्ट्वा कृताम् शक्रेण धीमता ।
एतौ जनपदौ स्फीतौ दीर्घ कालम् अरिन्दम ॥ ॥१-२४-२४॥
Deśasya pūjām tām dṛṣṭvā kṛtām śakreṇa dhīmatā । Etau janapadau sphītau dīrgha kālam arindama ॥ ॥1-24-24॥
Translation
O Arindama (Subduer of Enemies), witnessing the honor bestowed upon the land by the wise Indra, these two districts remained prosperous and thriving for a very long time.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे अरिन्दम (शत्रुओं का दमन करने वाले राम)! बुद्धिमान इन्द्र द्वारा किए गए उस सत्कार को पाकर ये दोनों जनपद दीर्घकाल तक धन-धान्य से भरे-पूरे रहे।
English Commentary
Vishvamitra addresses Rama as Arindama (destroyer of foes), a deliberate foreshadowing of the task Rama is about to undertake. This verse bridges the gap between the mythological past (Indra's time) and the immediate history. It establishes that the region enjoyed a long era of peace and prosperity due to Indra's blessing. The description of the land's former glory is intended to stir Rama's protective instincts—showing him what this land should be, versus what it has become.

विश्वामित्र राम को 'अरिन्दम' (शत्रुओं का नाश करने वाला) कहकर संबोधित करते हैं, जो आने वाले संघर्ष का संकेत है। अभी तक कहानी अच्छी चल रही थी—देश समृद्ध था और लोग खुश थे। 'दीर्घ कालम्' बताता है कि यह शांति लंबे समय तक बनी रही। यह श्लोक उस 'स्वर्ण युग' का वर्णन करता है जो ताड़का के आने से पहले यहाँ विद्यमान था। ऋषि यह भूमिका इसलिए बाँध रहे हैं ताकि राम को यह महसूस हो सके कि एक राक्षस के कारण कितनी सुंदर सभ्यता नष्ट हो रही है।
