अत एव च गन्तव्यम् ताटकाया वनम् यतः ।
स्व बाहु बलम् आश्रित्य जहि इमाम् दुष्ट चारिणीम् ॥ ॥१-२४-३०॥
Ata eva ca gantavyam tāṭakāyā vanam yataḥ । Sva bāhu balam āśritya jahi imām duṣṭa cāriṇīm ॥ ॥1-24-30॥
Translation
Therefore, you must go to that forest of Tataka. Relying solely on the strength of your own arms, kill this wicked wanderer.

अतः तुम्हें ताड़का के उस वन में जाना चाहिए। अपने बाहुबल का आश्रय लेकर तुम इस दुराचारिणी का वध कर डालो।
English Commentary
Here, Vishvamitra issues a direct command: Jahi (Kill her). He instructs Rama to rely on Sva bahu balam (the strength of his own arms), implying that Rama's innate valor is sufficient for this task and he need not wait for divine intervention. This marks a pivotal moment where the Sage transitions from narrator to commander, pushing the young prince to perform his duty as a protector (Kshatriya) by eliminating the 'wicked wanderer' (Dushta charinim).

यहाँ विश्वामित्र पहली बार राम को स्पष्ट आदेश दे रहे हैं—'जहि' (मार डालो)। यह एक गुरु का अपने शिष्य को दिया गया कठोर लेकिन आवश्यक निर्देश है। 'स्व बाहु बलम् आश्रित्य' (अपने बाहुबल के सहारे) कहकर ऋषि राम को यह बता रहे हैं कि उन्हें किसी दैवीय सहायता की प्रतीक्षा नहीं करनी है; उनका अपना पौरुष ही काफी है। क्षत्रिय का धर्म दुष्टों का नाश करना है, चाहे वह दुष्ट कोई भी हो। यह राम के जीवन का पहला बड़ा 'मिशन' है।
