Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
विश्वामित्रः तथा इति उक्त्वा तान् ऋषीन् प्रतिपूज्य च ।
ततार सहितः ताभ्याम् सरितम् सागरम् गमाम् ॥ ॥१-२४-४॥
viśvāmitraḥ tathā iti uktvā tān ṛṣīn pratipūjya ca |
tatāra sahitaḥ tābhyām saritam sāgaram gamām ॥1-24-4॥
Translation
Saying "So be it," and having honored those sages in return, Vishwamitra crossed the river (Ganga) that flows towards the ocean, accompanied by the two.
हिंदी अनुवाद
विश्वामित्र ने "तथास्तु" (ऐसा ही हो) कहकर उन ऋषियों का पुनः सम्मान किया और उन दोनों (राम-लक्ष्मण) के साथ सागरगामिनी सरिता (गंगा) को पार किया।
English Commentary
Vishwamitra reciprocates the courtesy ("Pratipujya") before departing. The river is described as "Sagara-gamam" (flowing towards the ocean), highlighting the majesty of the Ganges. This verse marks the transition from the Anga region across the river, moving the narrative towards the dangerous Tataka forest.
