Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
ज्ञातु कामो महातेजा सह रामः कनीयसा ।
अथ रामः सरिन् मध्ये पप्रच्छ मुनि पुङ्गवम् ॥ ॥१-२४-६॥
jñātu kāmo mahātejā saha rāmaḥ kanīyasā |
atha rāmaḥ sarin madhye papraccha muni puṅgavam ॥1-24-6॥
Translation
Then, the greatly resplendent Rama, along with his younger brother, wishing to know (the source), asked the best of sages in the middle of the river.
हिंदी अनुवाद
अपने छोटे भाई (लक्ष्मण) के साथ महातेजस्वी राम ने उसे जानने की इच्छा से नदी के बीच में ही मुनिपुंगव (विश्वामित्र) से पूछा।
English Commentary
Rama is described as "Mahateja" (of great splendor/energy). Curiosity is a hallmark of an ideal student. Rama poses the question right in the middle of the river ("Sarin Madhye"), indicating his alertness and eagerness to understand the natural phenomena around him. It shows that the journey was also an educational expedition for the princes.

राम को "महातेजा" कहा गया है, जो उनकी तीक्ष्ण बुद्धि और राजसी आभा का प्रतीक है। जिज्ञासा एक अच्छे शिष्य का लक्षण है। राम ने प्रतीक्षा नहीं की, बल्कि नदी के बीच ("सरिन् मध्ये") में ही प्रश्न पूछ लिया। यह दर्शाता है कि वे अपने आस-पास की हर प्राकृतिक घटना के प्रति सचेत और जिज्ञासु थे।
