कथयामास धर्मात्मा तस्य शब्दस्य निश्चयम् ।
कैलास पर्वते राम मनसा निर्मितम् परम् ॥ ॥१-२४-८॥
kathayāmāsa dharmātmā tasya śabdasya niścayam |
kailāsa parvate rāma manasā nirmitam param ॥1-24-8॥
Translation
The righteous soul (Vishwamitra) explained the true cause of that sound. "O Rama! On Mount Kailasa, a supreme lake was created by (Brahma's) mind."

धर्मात्मा (विश्वामित्र) ने उस शब्द का वास्तविक कारण बताया। (वे बोले) "हे राम! कैलास पर्वत पर ब्रह्मा जी ने अपने मन से एक उत्तम सरोवर का निर्माण किया था।"
English Commentary
Vishwamitra begins the explanation by tracing the origin of the river causing the noise. The phrase "Manasa Nirmitam" (created by the mind) is crucial as it provides the etymological origin of Lake "Manasarovar." Vishwamitra teaches not just geography, but the sacred history associated with the landscape, linking the physical river to its divine source on Mount Kailasa.
