विष्णुना च पुरा राम भृगु पत्नी पतिव्रता ।
अनिन्द्रम् लोकम् इच्छन्ती काव्यमाता निषूदिता ॥ ॥१-२५-२१॥
viṣṇunā ca purā rāma bhṛgu patnī pativratā । anindram lokam icchantī kāvyamātā niṣūditā ॥ ॥1-25-21॥
Translation
And in the past, O Rama, even Vishnu killed the devoted wife of Bhrigu, the mother of Kavya (Shukracharya), who desired a world without Indra.

और हे राम! प्राचीन काल में भगवान विष्णु ने भृगु ऋषि की पतिव्रता पत्नी (काव्यमाता/शुक्राचार्य की माँ) का वध किया था, क्योंकि वह संसार को इन्द्र-रहित करना चाहती थी।
English Commentary
This is the clinching argument. Viswamitra cites Lord Vishnu himself, the Preserver of the Universe. Even a woman of great personal virtue like Bhrigu's wife (the mother of Shukracharya) was executed by Vishnu when her actions threatened cosmic stability (by wanting to eliminate Indra). If the Supreme Lord can overlook the grave sin of killing a sage's wife for the greater good of the universe, Rama need not hesitate to eliminate a wicked demoness like Tataka. It establishes that cosmic order supersedes gender or social status.

यह विश्वामित्र का सबसे सशक्त तर्क है। वे स्वयं भगवान विष्णु का उदाहरण देते हैं, जो राम के आराध्य (और वास्तविक स्वरूप) हैं। भृगु ऋषि की पत्नी, यद्यपि एक सती और 'पतिव्रता' थीं, किन्तु जब उन्होंने देवताओं को नष्ट करने का संकल्प लिया और ब्रह्मांड का संतुलन बिगाड़ना चाहा, तो विष्णु ने अपने चक्र से उनका शीश काट दिया था। भाव यह है कि यदि कोई 'पतिव्रता' स्त्री भी अधर्म का पक्ष ले, तो वह दंडनीय है; ताड़का तो फिर भी एक क्रूर राक्षसी है। यहाँ धर्म का पलड़ा व्यक्ति की पवित्रता से भारी बताया गया है।
