Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
पश्य लक्ष्मण यक्षिण्या भैरवम् दारुणम् वपुः ।
भिद्येरन् दर्शनात् अस्या भीरूणाम् हृदयानि च ॥ ॥१-२६-१०॥
paśya lakṣmaṇa yakṣiṇyā bhairavam dāruṇam vapuḥ । bhidyeran darśanāt asyā bhīrūṇām hṛdayāni ca ॥ ॥1-26-10॥
Translation
"Behold, O Lakshmana, the terrible and dreadful body of this Yakshini. The hearts of cowards would burst merely by looking at her."

"हे लक्ष्मण! देखो, इस यक्षिणी का शरीर कितना भयानक और दारुण (कठोर) है। इसे देखकर ही कायरों के हृदय फट जाएं।"
English Commentary
Rama points out the sheer horror of Tataka's form to Lakshmana. He notes that her appearance alone is a weapon—sufficient to make the hearts of the timid explode (bhidyeran). By verbally acknowledging her terrifying nature, Rama objectifies the fear, stripping it of its power over them. It serves as a reality check for Lakshmana: "This is what we are facing." It validates the danger while simultaneously standing apart from it, showing they are not the "cowards" whose hearts would burst.

राम लक्ष्मण का ध्यान ताड़का के स्वरूप की ओर आकर्षित करते हैं। वे उसे 'यक्षिणी' कहते हैं (जो उसका मूल रूप है)। राम कहते हैं कि इसका रूप इतना 'भैरव' (भयंकर) है कि कमजोर दिल वाले (भीरु) तो केवल उसे देखकर ही मर सकते हैं (हृदय फट जाना)। राम यह बात लक्ष्मण को शायद इसलिए कह रहे हैं ताकि लक्ष्मण का भय (यदि कोई हो) दूर हो जाए और वे शत्रु की वास्तविकता को स्वीकार कर सकें। यह युद्धक्षेत्र में एक अग्रज द्वारा अनुज को मानसिक रूप से तैयार करने की प्रक्रिया है।
