ताम् दृष्ट्वा राघवः क्रुद्धाम् विकृताम् विकृत आननाम् ।
प्रमाणेन अति वृद्धाम् च लक्ष्मणम् सोऽभ्यभाषत ॥ ॥१-२६-९॥
tām dṛṣṭvā rāghavaḥ kruddhām vikṛtām vikṛta ānanām । pramāṇena ati vṛddhām ca lakṣmaṇam so'bhyabhāṣata ॥ ॥1-26-9॥
Translation
Seeing that angry, distorted, and huge-faced demoness, who was gigantic in size, Rama spoke to Lakshmana.

उस क्रोधित, विकराल शरीर वाली और भयानक मुख वाली राक्षसी को (अपनी ओर आते) देखकर, जो आकार में बहुत विशाल थी, राघव ने लक्ष्मण से कहा।
English Commentary
Rama finally lays eyes on his adversary. The text vividly describes her as grotesque (vikritam), with a terrifying face (vikrita-ananam), and of colossal proportions (pramanena ati vriddham). She is a towering monster. Despite this nightmarish sight charging at him, Rama's reaction is not fear, but a calm address to his brother. This contrast—the chaotic fury of the demoness versus the composed observation of Rama—illustrates the quality of a true hero.

राम पहली बार अपने शत्रु को प्रत्यक्ष देखते हैं। वाल्मीकि जी ने ताड़का के लिए तीन विशेषण दिए हैं: 'विकृताम्' (बेढंगी), 'विकृत-आननाम्' (डरावने चेहरे वाली), और 'प्रमाणेन अति वृद्धाम्' (आकार में अत्यधिक विशाल)। वह सामान्य मानवीय आकार की नहीं है। इतनी भयानक आकृति को अपनी ओर दौड़ते देखकर भी राम विचलित नहीं होते, बल्कि संयम के साथ अपने छोटे भाई लक्ष्मण से बात करते हैं। यह राम के अदम्य साहस और स्थिरता का परिचायक है।
