तम् शब्दम् अभिनिध्याय राक्षसी क्रोध मूर्चिता ।
श्रुत्वा च अभ्यद्रवत् क्रुद्धा यत्र शब्दो विनिस्सृतः ॥ ॥१-२६-८॥
tam śabdam abhinidhyāya rākṣasī krodha mūrcitā । śrutvā ca abhyadravat kruddhā yatra śabdo vinissṛtaḥ ॥ ॥1-26-8॥
Translation
Focusing on that sound, the demoness, overwhelmed with rage, ran angrily towards the place from where the sound had emanated.

उस शब्द को लक्ष्य करके (ध्यान देकर), क्रोध से पागल वह राक्षसी, जहाँ से वह शब्द निकला था, उसी ओर क्रोधपूर्वक दौड़ी।
English Commentary
Tataka tracks the source of the sound with predatory precision (abhinidhyaya). The description krodha murchita (fainted/stupefied by anger) implies she is possessed by a blind rage that overrides caution. She rushes directly toward the sound source. The narrative builds tension: the static threat of the forest is now a dynamic, charging force hurtling toward the two young princes. It highlights the aggressive nature of Rakshasas—they do not negotiate; they attack.

ताड़का की प्रतिक्रिया हिंसक और त्वरित है। वह ध्वनि की दिशा का अनुमान लगाकर (अभिनिध्याय) आक्रमण करती है। 'क्रोध मूर्चिता' का अर्थ है क्रोध से विवेक शून्य हो जाना। राक्षसी प्रवृत्ति में विचार नहीं, केवल प्रतिक्रिया होती है। जैसे ही उसने चुनौती सुनी, वह बिना यह देखे कि सामने कौन है, विनाश करने के लिए दौड़ पड़ी। यह श्लोक युद्ध की गतिशीलता (momentum) को बढ़ाता है; अदृश्य खतरा अब सामने आ रहा है।
