देव असुर गणान् वा अपि स गन्धर्व उरगान् भुवि ।
यैः अमित्रान् प्रसह्य आजौ वशीकृत्य जयिष्यसि ॥१-२७-३॥
deva asura gaṇān vā api sa gandharva uragān bhuvi |
yaiḥ amitrān prasahya ājau vaśīkṛtya jayiṣyasi ॥1-27-3॥
Translation
By which [weapons] you shall conquer and bring under control in battle the hosts of enemies, be they Devas, Asuras, along with Gandharvas and Uragas on earth.

जिनके द्वारा तुम युद्ध में, देव, असुर, गन्धर्व और नागों सहित शत्रुओं के समूहों को बलपूर्वक वश में करके जीत सकोगे।
English Commentary
Vishwamitra here defines the scope and potency of the celestial weaponry. He clarifies that these Astras are not merely for earthly warfare but possess the capability to subdue supernatural entities including Devas (gods), Asuras (demons), Gandharvas (celestial musicians), and Uragas (serpents). The use of 'vaśīkṛtya' (having brought under control) and 'jayiṣyasi' (you will conquer) assures Rama of definitive victory. This foreshadows the magnitude of the challenges Rama will face later in the epic, particularly against Ravana, who had boons protecting him from various beings. Vishwamitra is equipping Rama with an arsenal that transcends the human plane, ensuring that the Prince is prepared for any cosmic threat. It establishes the supremacy of the weapons Vishwamitra earned through his own intense penance (Tapas).
