वज्रम् अस्त्रम् नरश्रेष्ठ शैवम् शूलवरम् तथा ।
अस्त्रम् ब्रह्मशिरः च एव ऐषीकम् अपि राघव ॥१-२७-६॥
vajram astram naraśreṣṭha śaivam śūlavaram tathā |
astram brahmaśiraḥ ca eva aiṣīkam api rāghava ॥1-27-6॥
Translation
O Best among men, [I give you] the Vajra missile, the excellent Shiva-Shula (trident), the Brahmashira missile, and the Aishika missile too, O Raghava.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे नरश्रेष्ठ! मैं तुम्हें वज्रास्त्र, शिवजी का श्रेष्ठ त्रिशूल (शैव शूल), ब्रह्मशिर अस्त्र और ऐषीक अस्त्र भी देता हूँ।
English Commentary
Using the honorific 'Narashreshtha' (Best among men), the Sage continues the bequest with weapons of mass destruction associated with the Trinity and the King of Gods. The Vajra is Indra's thunderbolt, representing irresistible force. The Shaiva Shula is Shiva's trident, representing ultimate destruction. The Brahmashira is a weapon of immense potency, capable of burning the universe, akin to the Brahmastra but often cited as even more specific in its targeting and lethality. The Aishika weapon allows the wielder to transform a mere blade of dried grass into a deadly missile. Entrusting a young prince with the specific weapons of Shiva and Brahma demonstrates Vishwamitra's absolute confidence in Rama's emotional and spiritual maturity, ensuring these forces will only be used for the preservation of Dharma.

विश्वामित्र राम को 'नरश्रेष्ठ' (मनुष्यों में श्रेष्ठ) कहते हुए देवताओं के प्रधान अस्त्र सौंपते हैं। 'वज्रम्' इन्द्र का अस्त्र है, जो पर्वतों को भी तोड़ने में सक्षम है। 'शैवम् शूलवरम्' भगवान शिव का त्रिशूल है, जो संहार का प्रतीक है। रामायण और महाभारत के संदर्भ में 'ब्रह्मशिर' अस्त्र अत्यंत विनाशकारी माना जाता है, जो ब्रह्माजी के सिरों की ऊर्जा से निर्मित है और परमाणु शक्ति के समान संहारक है। 'ऐषीक' अस्त्र एक सूखी घास की तिनके (ईषीका) को भी अस्त्र में बदलने की विद्या है। इन अस्त्रों का संयोजन—इन्द्र का बल, शिव का संहार, और ब्रह्मा का ज्ञान—राम को अजेय बनाता है। विशेष रूप से शिव और ब्रह्मा के अस्त्रों का एक साथ होना, राम के प्रति ऋषियों के विश्वास को दर्शाता है कि वे इनका दुरुपयोग नहीं करेंगे।
