Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
एनम् आश्रमम् आयान्ति राक्षसा विघ्न कारिणः ।
अत्र ते पुरुषव्याघ्र हन्तव्या दुष्ट चारिणः ॥ ॥१-२९-२३॥
Enam āśramam āyānti rākṣasā vighna kāriṇaḥ । Atra te puruṣavyāghra hantavyā duṣṭa cāriṇaḥ ॥ ॥1-29-23॥
Translation
O Tiger among men! Demons who create obstacles come to this hermitage. Here, those evildoers must be killed by you.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे पुरुषव्याघ्र (पुरुषों में श्रेष्ठ राम)! यहाँ विघ्न डालने वाले राक्षस आते हैं। दुराचारी राक्षसों का वध तुम्हें यहीं करना है।
English Commentary
This verse contains the mission briefing. Vishvamitra transitions from storyteller to commander. Addressing Rama as Purushavyaghra (Tiger among men) invokes his martial valor. The problem is clearly defined: Rakshasas are disrupting the sanctity of the place (Vighna karinah). The solution is equally clear and uncompromising: Hantavya (they must be killed). There is no ambiguity here; the sage demands the elimination of the threat to restore the spiritual equilibrium of the hermitage. This validates the use of force when it is for the protection of righteousness (Dharma).

अब विश्वामित्र जी मुख्य मुद्दे पर आते हैं। राम को लाने का प्रयोजन यही था। वे राम को 'पुरुषव्याघ्र' (पुरुषों में बाघ के समान वीर) संबोधित करते हैं, जो उनके क्षत्रिय तेज को ललकारने के लिए है। 'विघ्न कारिणः'—राक्षस केवल भौतिक उपद्रव नहीं करते, बल्कि यज्ञ और धर्म कार्यों में बाधा डालते हैं। ऋषि स्पष्ट आदेश देते हैं: 'हन्तव्या' (वध करना चाहिए)। यहाँ कोई अहिंसा का उपदेश नहीं है; धर्म की रक्षा के लिए आततायियों का नाश करना क्षत्रिय का परम धर्म है। स्थान भी निश्चित कर दिया गया है—'अत्र' (यहीं इसी आश्रम में)।
