तपः चरण योगार्थम् उवास सु महातपाः ।
एष पूर्व आश्रमो राम वामनस्य महात्मनः ॥१-२९-३॥
tapaḥ caraṇa yogārtham uvāsa su mahātapāः । eṣa pūrva āśramo rāma vāmanasya mahātmanaḥ ॥ ॥1-29-3॥
Translation
"For the purpose of practicing Tapas and Yoga, He of great penance lived here. This, O Rama, was the former hermitage of the great-souled Vamana."

"तपस्या और योग साधना के उद्देश्य से उन महातपस्वी (विष्णु) ने यहाँ वास किया था। हे राम! यह महात्मा वामन का पूर्व आश्रम है।"
English Commentary
Here, the specific incarnation associated with the ashram is identified: Vamana, the Dwarf Avatar. The phrase tapaḥ caraṇa yogārtham indicates that even the Supreme Lord engages in Tapas (penance) and Yoga when incarnated, setting an example for humanity.
