Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
कुमारौ एव ताम् रात्रिम् उषित्वा सुसमाहितौ ।
प्रभात काले च उत्थाय पूर्वाम् संध्याम् उपास्य च ॥ ॥१-२९-३१॥
Kumārau eva tām rātrim uṣitvā susamāhitau । Prabhāta kāle ca utthāya pūrvām sandhyām upāsya ca ॥ ॥1-29-31॥
Translation
The two princes spent that night in a state of high alertness and composure. Rising at dawn, they performed their morning Sandhya (prayers/meditation).

उन दोनों कुमारों (राम और लक्ष्मण) ने वह रात अत्यंत सावधानी और एकाग्रता (सुसमाहित) के साथ बिताई। प्रातःकाल उठकर उन्होंने अपनी नित्य प्रातः संध्या-वंदना की।
English Commentary
The princes display exemplary discipline here. The word Susamahitau implies being well-composed or deeply focused. Even while resting, their minds were attuned to the mission. Rising early to perform Purvam Sandhyam (morning prayers) highlights that spiritual grounding is the foundation of their martial strength. In the Vedic worldview, a warrior (Kshatriya) derives his power not just from weapons, but from adherence to Dharma and daily rituals. This preparation clears their minds before the critical task of protection begins.

'सुसमाहितौ' शब्द यहाँ राम और लक्ष्मण की मानसिक स्थिति का वर्णन करता है। यद्यपि वे अभी युद्ध नहीं कर रहे हैं, पर उनका चित्त पूरी तरह से अपने कर्तव्य पर केंद्रित है। वे लापरवाह होकर सोए नहीं, बल्कि सतर्क रहे। प्रातःकाल उठकर 'संध्या' (सूर्य की उपासना) करना उनकी दिनचर्या और अनुशासन को दर्शाता है। क्षत्रिय होने का अर्थ यह नहीं है कि नित्य कर्म त्याग दिए जाएं। वास्तव में, आध्यात्मिक अनुशासन ही योद्धा को वह मानसिक बल प्रदान करता है जो युद्ध के मैदान में आवश्यक होता है। यह श्लोक उनके संयमित जीवन का प्रमाण है।
