Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
रात्रौ लंका प्रवेशम् च एकस्य अपि विचिंतनम् ।
आपान भूमि गमनम् अवरोधस्य दर्शनम् ॥१-३-२९।

Rātrau Laṅkā praveśaṃ ca ekasya api vicintanam |
Āpāna bhūmi gamanaṃ avarodhasya darśanam ॥1-3-29॥
Translation
(Valmiki visualized) Hanuman’s entry into Lanka at night, his solitary reflection (on how to search for Sita), his going to the drinking halls, and his viewing of the inner apartments (Ravana's harem).
हिंदी अनुवाद
(वाल्मीकि ने) हनुमान का रात्रि में लंका में प्रवेश, उसके एकाकी चिंतन (सीता की खोज करने के तरीके पर), उसके पानालयों की ओर जाने और उसके अलग कमरों (रावण के हरम) का अवलोकन।
English Commentary
This verse appears in the Bala Kanda, Sarga 3. At this point in the epic, Sage Valmiki has received a boon from Lord Brahma. Brahma has granted him the divine vision to see all events associated with Rama's life—past, present, and future—exactly as they happened, so that he may compose the Ramayana. This specific verse is a summary of the events that will take place later in the Sundara Kanda: Solitary Strategy (Ekasya api vicintanam): Unlike the war where armies clashed, the search for Sita was a solitary mission. Hanuman had to rely entirely on his own intellect and strategy to infiltrate the fortress. The Search Areas: The verse highlights that Valmiki saw Hanuman searching everywhere, including the Āpāna bhūmi (drinking halls) and Avarodha (the women's quarters), emphasizing the thoroughness and desperation of Hanuman's search for Mother Sita.

यह श्लोक बालकाण्ड, सर्ग 3 में आता है। इस समय महर्षि वाल्मीकि को भगवान ब्रह्मा से एक वरदान मिला है। ब्रह्मा ने उन्हें दिव्य दृष्टि दी है, जिससे वे राम के जीवन से जुड़ी सभी घटनाओं को - भूत, वर्तमान और भविष्य में - जस का तस देख सकें, ताकि वे रामायण की रचना कर सकें। यह विशेष श्लोक उन घटनाओं का सारांश है जो बाद में सुंदरकाण्ड में होंगी। एकाकी रणनीति (एकस्य अपि विचिंतनम्): जहाँ युद्ध में सेनाएँ टकराती थीं, सीता की खोज एक एकाकी मिशन थी। हनुमान को किले में घुसने के लिए पूरी तरह से अपनी बुद्धिमत्ता और रणनीति पर निर्भर रहना पड़ा। खोज के क्षेत्र: यह श्लोक इस बात पर प्रकाश डालता है कि वाल्मीकि ने हनुमान को हर जगह, यहाँ तक कि आपान भूमि (पानालयों) और अवरोध (महिलाओं के क्वार्टर) में खोजते देखा, जिससे हनुमान की माँ सीता के लिए खोज की पूर्णता और निराशा का एहसास होता है।
