Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
मंत्रवत् च यथा न्यायम् यज्ञो असौ संप्रवर्तते ।
आकाशे च महान् शब्दः प्रादुर् आसीत् भयानकः ॥ ॥१-३०-१०॥
Mantravat ca yathā nyāyam yajño asau sampravartate । Ākāśe ca mahān śabdaḥ prādur āsīt bhayānakaḥ ॥ ॥1-30-10॥
Translation
Just as the sacrifice was proceeding according to the scriptures with sacred chants, a terrifyingly loud noise suddenly arose in the sky.

जब वह यज्ञ मंत्रोच्चारण के साथ विधि-विधान पूर्वक चल रहा था, तभी आकाश में एक भयानक और भीषण शब्द (गर्जना) प्रकट हुआ।
English Commentary
A striking juxtaposition is presented here: the rhythmic, disciplined chanting of Vedic mantras (mantravat) versus the chaotic, terrifying roar (śabdaḥ bhayānakaḥ) from the sky. The phrase yathā nyāyam indicates that the ritual was flawless, suggesting that the disturbance was not due to an internal error but an external assault. The sky, usually a symbol of vastness and divinity, becomes the source of terror. This auditory imagery effectively shifts the mood from serenity to alarm.
