तौ आपतन्तौ सहसा दृष्ट्वा राजीव लोचनः ।
लक्ष्मणम् तौ अभिसंप्रेक्ष्य रामो वचनम् अब्रवीत् ॥ ॥१-३०-१४॥
Tau āpatantau sahasā dṛṣṭvā rājīva locanaḥ । Lakṣmaṇam tau abhisamprekṣya rāmo vacanam abravīt ॥ ॥1-30-14॥
Translation
Seeing those two suddenly rushing to attack, the lotus-eyed Rama looked significantly at Lakshmana and spoke these words.

उन दोनों को अचानक टूट पड़ते (आक्रमण करते) देख, कमल नयन राम ने लक्ष्मण की ओर देखते हुए यह वचन कहा।
English Commentary
Even amidst the chaos of the demonic attack, Rama is described with the epithet rājīva locanaḥ (lotus-eyed), emphasizing his transcendent beauty and composure. He is not flushed with panic; his gaze remains steady. His glance at Lakshmana (abhisamprekṣya) is significant—it is a look of shared understanding and command between warriors. It signals readiness and coordination. The juxtaposition of the rushing demons (āpatantau) and the calm, lotus-eyed hero illustrates the ideal heroic quality of remaining unperturbed (dhīrodatta) in the face of danger.
