Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
पश्य लक्ष्मण दुर्वृत्तान् राक्षसान् पिशित अशनान् ।
मानवास्त्र समाधूतान् अनिलेन यथा घनान् ॥ ॥१-३०-१५॥
Paśya lakṣmaṇa durvṛttān rākṣasān piśita aśanān । Mānavāstra samādhūtān anilena yathā ghanān ॥ ॥1-30-15॥
Translation
"Behold, O Lakshmana, these evil-natured, flesh-eating Rakshasas. They will be blown away by the Manavastra weapon, just as clouds are scattered by the wind."
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे लक्ष्मण! इन दुराचारी, कच्चा मांस खाने वाले राक्षसों को देखो। अभी मानवास्त्र द्वारा ये वैसे ही उड़ा दिए जाएँगे जैसे हवा बादलों को उड़ा देती है।
English Commentary
Rama reveals his tactical intent here. He identifies the demons by their vile nature (piśita aśanān - eaters of raw flesh) and immediately predicts their defeat. He references the simile established earlier (demons as clouds) and completes it by positioning his weapon as the wind (anilena). The specific mention of the mānavāstra (Weapon of Manu) is crucial. This weapon is known for its ability to displace or throw the enemy great distances, fitting the wind metaphor perfectly. Rama’s tone is instructional and confident; he is showing Lakshmana not just the enemy, but the inevitability of righteousness triumphing over evil through the appropriate use of divine weaponry.
