भगवन् श्रोतुम् इच्छावो यस्मिन् काले निशाचरौ ।
संरक्षणीयौ तौ ब्रूहि न अतिवर्तेत तत् क्षणम् ॥ ॥१-३०-२॥
Bhagavan śrotum icchāvo yasmin kāle niśācarau । Samrakṣaṇīyau tau brūhi na ativarteta tat kṣaṇam ॥ ॥1-30-2॥
Translation
"O Lord, we wish to hear at what time those two night-wanderers (demons) are to be guarded against. Tell us, so that the critical moment does not pass us by."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"हे भगवन्! हम यह सुनना चाहते हैं कि वे दोनों राक्षस किस समय आएंगे (ताकि हम सावधान रहें)। आप हमें वह समय बताएं ताकि वह क्षण (चूक से) निकल न जाए और हम यज्ञ की रक्षा कर सकें।"
English Commentary
This is a tactical inquiry. Rama asks for the specific window of vulnerability. By asking "at what time" (Yasmin kale), he aims to synchronize his defense with the anticipated threat. The phrase Na ativarteta tat kshanam (let not that moment pass) reveals their anxiety to perform their duty perfectly. In high-stakes rituals, timing is everything; a momentary lapse can render days of penance void. Rama wants to ensure peak vigilance exactly when it is needed, conserving energy otherwise.

यह प्रश्न राम की सतर्कता का प्रमाण है। वे शत्रु के हमले का इंतजार निष्क्रिय होकर नहीं करना चाहते। वे 'प्रिवेंटिव एक्शन' (निवारक कार्रवाई) में विश्वास रखते हैं। 'न अतिवर्तेत तत् क्षणम्' (वह क्षण हाथ से न निकल जाए) अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण है। यज्ञ की पूर्णाहुति के समय ही राक्षस हमला करते हैं, और यदि वह क्षण चूक गया तो सारी मेहनत व्यर्थ हो जाएगी। राम एक कमांडर की तरह 'ज़ीरो आवर' (हमले का समय) पूछ रहे हैं ताकि वे अपनी व्यूहरचना कर सकें।
