तासाम् तु वचनम् श्रुत्वा हरिः परम कोपनः ।
प्रविश्य सर्व गात्राणि बभंज भगवान् प्रभुः ॥१-३२-२३॥
Tāsām tu vacanam śrutvā hariḥ parama kopanaḥ |
Praviśya sarva gātrāṇi babhaṃja bhagavān prabhuḥ ॥1-32-23॥
Translation
Hearing their words, the immensely wrathful Lord Vayu entered all their limbs and broke (bent/deformed) them.

उन कन्याओं के ऐसे वचन सुनकर, अत्यंत क्रोधी स्वभाव वाले और शक्तिशाली भगवान वायुदेव ने उनके शरीर के सभी अंगों में प्रवेश किया और उन्हें तोड़-मरोड़ (कुबड़ा) दिया।
English Commentary
This verse marks the tragic climax of the encounter. Vayu, described as parama kopanaḥ (extremely wrathful), reacts to rejection not with grace but with violence. The method of punishment is unique to his nature as the Wind God: praviśya sarva gātrāṇi (entering all limbs). Since he resides within as Prana, he distorts them from the inside out. This psychosomatic violation transforms their beautiful forms into hunchbacks (Kubja). Theologically, it illustrates how divine power, when tainted by ego and rejection, can become destructive. It contrasts sharply with the maidens' earlier restraint; while they held back their curse to save tapas, Vayu unleashed his power to inflict pain.

यहाँ वायुदेव का 'परम कोपनः' (अत्यंत क्रोधी) रूप प्रकट होता है। जब अहंकार को सत्य और धर्म से चुनौती मिलती है, तो वह अक्सर हिंसा पर उतर आता है। 'प्रविश्य सर्व गात्राणि'—चूँकि वायु शरीर के भीतर प्राण रूप में विद्यमान हैं, उन्हें बाहर से प्रहार करने की आवश्यकता नहीं थी। उन्होंने अपनी आंतरिक शक्ति का दुरुपयोग करके उनके अंगों को विकृत कर दिया। यह घटना दर्शाती है कि देवता भी यदि काम और क्रोध के वशीभूत हो जाएं, तो वे अपनी शक्ति का विनाशकारी प्रयोग कर सकते हैं। 'बभंज' (तोड़ दिया/मोड़ दिया) शब्द यहाँ शारीरिक विकृति (कुबड़ापन) का कारण बना, जिसके कारण बाद में वे 'कुब्जा' कहलाईं। यह श्लोक शक्ति के दुरुपयोग की चरम सीमा है।
