कस्यचित् तु अथ कालस्य कुशनाभस्य धीमतः ।
जज्ञे परम धर्मिष्ठो गाधिः इति एव नामतः ॥१-३४-५॥
kasyacit tu atha kālasya kuśanābhasya dhīmataḥ |
jajñe parama dharmiṣṭho gādhiḥ iti eva nāmataḥ ॥1-34-5॥
Translation
Then, after the passage of some time, a supremely righteous son was born to the wise Kushanabha, who was known by the name Gadhi.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तदनंतर कुछ समय बीतने पर, बुद्धिमान कुशनाभ के यहाँ परम धर्मपरायण पुत्र उत्पन्न हुआ, जो 'गाधि' नाम से ही प्रसिद्ध हुआ।
English Commentary
The prophecy serves its fruition with the birth of Gadhi. The narrative moves swiftly over the gestation period with kasyacit tu atha kālasya (after some time). The attributes assigned to the characters are key: Kushanabha is dhīmataḥ (wise/prudent), and the newborn Gadhi is parama dharmiṣṭhaḥ (supremely righteous). This aligns perfectly with the boon granted in verse 3. This verse establishes the immediate ancestry of Vishvamitra, as Gadhi is his father. It serves as the foundational block for the upcoming narrative about Vishvamitra’s own life and transformation.

वरदान के फलीभूत होने का समय आ गया। 'कस्यचित् तु अथ कालस्य' (कुछ समय के पश्चात) गर्भकाल की अवधि को सूचित करता है। कुशनाभ के लिए 'धीमतः' (बुद्धिमान) विशेषण का प्रयोग किया गया है क्योंकि उन्होंने धैर्यपूर्वक धर्म का पालन किया। पुत्र 'परम धर्मिष्ठो' (अत्यंत धार्मिक) है, जैसा कि कुश ने भविष्यवाणी की थी। 'इति एव नामतः' (इसी नाम से) यह पुष्टि करता है कि पितामह कुश द्वारा दिया गया नाम ही बालक का नाम रखा गया। यहीं से विश्वामित्र (जो गाधि के पुत्र होंगे) की प्रत्यक्ष वंशावली का आधार तैयार होता है।
