उपास्य रात्रि शेषम् तु शोणा कूले महर्षिभिः ।
निशायाम् सुप्रभातायाम् विश्वामित्रो अभ्यभाषत ॥१-३५-१॥
upāsya rātri śeṣam tu śoṇā kūle maharṣibhiḥ |
niśāyām suprabhātāyām viśvāmitro abhyabhāṣata ॥1-35-1॥
Translation
Having spent the remainder of the night on the bank of the Shona river with the great sages, Vishvamitra spoke when the night had turned into a beautiful dawn.

महर्षियों के साथ शोण नद के तट पर रात्रि का शेष भाग व्यतीत करके, जब सुंदर प्रभात वाली रात्रि (समाप्त) हुई, तब विश्वामित्र बोले।
English Commentary
This verse establishes the setting for the new chapter (Sarga 35). The location is confirmed as the bank of the Shona river. The timing is daybreak. The phrase upāsya rātri śeṣam implies they rested for the remaining part of the night after the storytelling.
