प्रतिगृह्य त्रिलोक अर्थम् त्रिलोक हित कांक्षिणः ।
गंगाम् आदाय ते अगच्छन् कृतार्थेन अंतरात्मना ॥ ॥१-३५-१९॥
Pratigṛhya triloka artham triloka hita kāṃkṣiṇaḥ । Gaṅgām ādāya te agacchan kṛtārthena antarātmanā ॥ ॥1-35-19॥
Translation
Accepting her for the sake of the three worlds, those well-wishers of the universe took Ganga and departed, their inner selves feeling fulfilled.

तीनों लोकों का हित चाहने वाले उन देवताओं ने, त्रिलोकी के प्रयोजन के लिए गंगा को स्वीकार किया और कृतार्थ (सफल/संतुष्ट) अंतरात्मा के साथ उन्हें लेकर चले गए।
English Commentary
The transaction is completed. The Devas, characterized again as seeking the good of the three worlds (triloka hita kāṃkṣiṇaḥ), accept Ganga. Their reaction is one of deep fulfillment (kṛtārthena antarātmanā—with a soul that has accomplished its object). This marks Ganga's transition from a terrestrial mountain princess to a celestial river (Mandakini) flowing in the heavens, setting the stage for her eventual descent to Earth later in the epic.

देवताओं का उद्देश्य स्वार्थ नहीं, अपितु 'त्रिलोक हित' था। गंगा को प्राप्त करके वे 'कृतार्थ' (जिनका अर्थ या प्रयोजन सिद्ध हो गया हो) महसूस करने लगे। 'अंतरात्मना' शब्द उनकी आंतरिक संतोष को दर्शाता है। यह श्लोक गंगा के स्वर्गारोहण (पृथ्वी पर आने से पहले वे देवताओं के साथ स्वर्ग गयीं) का संकेत देता है। यहाँ से गंगा का निवास देवताओं के साथ (स्वर्ग में) हो गया, जब तक कि बाद में भगीरथ उन्हें पृथ्वी पर नहीं लाए।
