एते ते शैल राजस्य सुते लोक नमस्कृते ।
गंगा च सरिताम् श्रेष्ठा उमादेवी च राघव ॥ ॥१-३५-२२॥
Ete te śaila rājasya sute loka namaskṛte । Gaṅgā ca saritām śreṣṭhā umādevī ca rāghava ॥ ॥1-35-22॥
Translation
O Raghava, these are the two daughters of the King of Mountains, worshipped by the world: Ganga, the foremost of rivers, and Uma Devi.

हे राघव! ये पर्वतराज की वे दो पुत्रियां हैं जो संसार में पूजनीय हैं—नदियों में श्रेष्ठ गंगा और देवी उमा।
English Commentary
Vishvamitra concludes this segment of the genealogy. He reiterates that both entities—the physical river Ganga and the goddess Uma—are sisters, daughters of the Mountain King, and objects of universal reverence (loka namaskṛte). This establishes the sanctity of the location and the subject matter. By summarizing their identities, Vishvamitra prepares Rama for the next phase of the story: the specific detailed saga of how Ganga descended from the heavens, which involves Rama's own ancestors.

यह श्लोक इस प्रसंग का उपसंहार (summary) है। विश्वामित्र पुष्टि करते हैं कि गंगा और उमा दोनों ही हिमवान की पुत्रियां हैं और दोनों ही 'लोक नमस्कृते' (विश्व वंदनीय) हैं। गंगा जल रूप में जगत का कल्याण करती हैं और उमा शक्ति रूप में। 'उमादेवी' शब्द में 'देवी' जुड़ना उनके ईश्वरीय स्तर को दर्शाता है। विश्वामित्र ने राम को गंगा की पृष्ठभूमि (background) बता दी है, अब वे आगे विस्तार से बताएंगे कि गंगा स्वर्ग से पृथ्वी पर कैसे आईं।
