तत् श्रुत्वा वचनम् तस्य कृत्वा पौर्व आह्णिक क्रियः ।
गमनम् रोचयामास वाक्यम् च इदम् उवाच ह ॥ ॥१-३५-३॥
Tat śrutvā vacanam tasya kṛtvā paurva āhṇika kriyaḥ । Gamanam rocayāmāsa vākyam ca idam uvāca ha ॥ ॥1-35-3॥
Translation
Having heard those words (of the sage), and having performed his morning duties, Rama decided to proceed with the journey and spoke these words.
हिंदी अनुवाद
विश्वामित्र मुनि के उन वचनों को सुनकर, श्री राम ने अपने प्रातःकालीन नित्यकर्म (पौर्वाह्निक क्रिया) पूर्ण किए। तत्पश्चात उन्होंने यात्रा आरंभ करने का निश्चय किया और यह वचन कहा।
English Commentary
This verse highlights the immaculate discipline of Rama. The term paurva āhṇika kriyaḥ refers to the specific rituals prescribed for the forenoon, such as the morning bath, sandhyavandana, and oblations. Despite being on a journey and likely eager to proceed, Rama does not neglect his nitya karma (daily obligatory duties). This establishes the priority of dharma over convenience. By stating that he 'decided to proceed' (gamanam rocayāmāsa) only after these rites were complete, the text underscores that all great endeavors in the Vedic tradition begin with internal purification and alignment with cosmic rhythms.
