Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
एवम् उक्तः तु रामेण विश्वामित्रो अब्रवीत् इदम् ।
एष पंथा मया उद्दिष्टो येन यान्ति महर्षयः ॥ ॥१-३५-५॥
Evam uktaḥ tu rāmeṇa viśvāmitro abravīt idam । Eṣa paṃthā mayā uddiṣṭo yena yānti maharṣayaḥ ॥ ॥1-35-5॥
Translation
Being thus addressed by Rama, Vishvamitra spoke this: 'This path indicated by me is the one by which great sages travel.'

राम के द्वारा इस प्रकार पूछे जाने पर, विश्वामित्र ने यह उत्तर दिया: "मेरे द्वारा निर्दिष्ट यह वही मार्ग है जिससे महर्षिगण जाते हैं।"
English Commentary
Vishvamitra’s response carries a weight beyond simple navigation. By stating that this is the path used by maharshis (great sages), he validates the safety and sanctity of the route. In the Vedic context, walking the path of the ancients (rishi-patha) is considered the surest way to success. It subtly aligns Rama with the lineage of ascetics and truth-seekers. Vishvamitra is guiding the princes not just across a river, but initiating them into the traditions of the forest-dwelling sages. It reinforces the trust the disciple must have in the Guru's direction.

विश्वामित्र का उत्तर केवल भौगोलिक मार्ग का संकेत नहीं है, अपितु यह एक सांस्कृतिक और आध्यात्मिक परंपरा का भी सूचक है। "येन यान्ति महर्षयः" (जिससे महर्षि जाते हैं) कहकर वे यह स्पष्ट करते हैं कि यह मार्ग सुरक्षित और पवित्र है। भारतीय दर्शन में 'महाजनो येन गतः स पन्थाः' (जिस मार्ग से महापुरुष गए हों, वही सही मार्ग है) का सिद्धांत प्रसिद्ध है। विश्वामित्र राम को उस पथ पर ले जा रहे हैं जो पूर्वजों और ऋषियों द्वारा परीक्षित और सेवित है। यह दर्शाता है कि राम का जीवन ऋषियों के पदचिह्नों पर चलने और धर्म की स्थापना के लिए ही है।
