त्रैलोक्य हित काम अर्थम् तेजः तेजसि धारय ।
रक्ष सर्वान् इमान् लोकान् न अलोकम् कर्तुम् अर्हसि ॥१-३६-११॥
trailokya hita kāma artham tejaḥ tejasi dhāraya |
rakṣa sarvān imān lokān na alokam kartum arhasi ॥1-36-11॥
Translation
For the sake of the welfare of the three worlds, hold Your energy within Your own energy. Protect all these worlds; it is not befitting of You to render them non-worlds (destroy them).
हिंदी अनुवाद
तीनों लोकों के हित की कामना से आप अपने तेज को अपने तेज में ही धारण (लीन) कर लें। इन सभी लोकों की रक्षा करें; आप (इन्हें नष्ट करके) अलोक (शून्य) न करें।
English Commentary
The gods propose a specific method of containment: "Tejah tejasi dharaya" (Hold the energy within the energy). They ask Shiva to withdraw his potency into his own essence rather than releasing it. The urgency is marked by the phrase "Na alokam kartum arhasi" (You should not make them non-worlds). This suggests that the release of his energy would mean total annihilation, turning the cosmos into a void ("Alokam"). The appeal is made strictly for "Trailokya hita" (the welfare of the three worlds), framing the request as a necessity for cosmic survival rather than interference in divine privacy.

यह प्रार्थना का चरमोत्कर्ष है। देवता शिव से अनुरोध करते हैं—'तेजः तेजसि धारय'—अर्थात अपने वीर्य/ऊर्जा को बाहर स्खलित न करके उसे अपने भीतर ही रोक लें। यह उर्ध्वरेता योगी की स्थिति है। 'न अलोकम् कर्तुम् अर्हसि' वाक्यांश अत्यंत गंभीर है; इसका अर्थ है कि यदि वह ऊर्जा मुक्त हुई, तो लोक 'अलोक' (नष्ट/शून्य) हो जाएंगे। शिव का दायित्व रक्षक का है, संहारक का नहीं, इसलिए उनसे लोकों की रक्षा की गुहार लगाई जा रही है। यह श्लोक शिव की ऊर्जा नियंत्रण क्षमता (योग बल) पर देवताओं के विश्वास को प्रकट करता है।
