धारयिष्यामि अहम् तेजः तेजसि एव सह उमया ।
त्रिदशाः पृथिवी चैव निर्वाणम् अधिगच्छतु ॥१-३६-१३॥
dhārayiṣyāmi aham tejaḥ tejasi eva saha umayā |
tridaśāḥ pṛthivī caiva nirvāṇam adhigacchatu ॥1-36-13॥
Translation
"I shall hold My energy within My own energy along with Uma. Let the Thirty Gods (Tridashas) and the Earth attain peace."

"मैं अपने तेज को अपने तेज में ही उमा के साथ धारण करूँगा। देवता और पृथ्वी (तीनों लोक) निर्वाण (शांति और अभय) को प्राप्त हों।"
English Commentary
Shiva makes a solemn vow to contain the energy ("Dharayishyami") alongside Goddess Uma. By stating "Saha Umaya" (with Uma), he affirms that the Goddess concurs with this decision to withhold the creation of a son for the greater good. He concludes with a blessing: "Nirvanam adhigacchatu" (Let them attain Nirvana). In this context, Nirvana refers to supreme peace, cessation of distress, and safety from the burning heat of his energy. It signifies the restoration of cosmic equilibrium that had been disturbed by the intensity of their union.

शिव जी अपनी प्रतिज्ञा दोहराते हैं कि वे और उमा दोनों अपने-अपने तेज को स्खलित नहीं होने देंगे, बल्कि उसे धारण करेंगे। यहाँ 'सह उमया' (उमा के साथ) महत्वपूर्ण है, क्योंकि सृष्टि प्रक्रिया में दोनों की भूमिका थी, अतः संयम में भी दोनों की सहमति आवश्यक है। शिव देवताओं और पृथ्वी को 'निर्वाण' (शांति/दुःख से मुक्ति) प्राप्त करने का आशीर्वाद देते हैं। यहाँ 'निर्वाण' का अर्थ मोक्ष नहीं, बल्कि भय और ताप से मुक्ति है। यह शिव के त्याग को दर्शाता है कि वे जगत के कल्याण के लिए अपने सुख और सृजन का बलिदान कर रहे हैं।
