एवम् उक्तः सुर पतिः प्रमुमोच महाबलः ।
तेजसा पृथिवी येन व्याप्ता स गिरि कानना ॥१-३६-१६॥
evam uktaḥ sura patiḥ pramumoca mahābalaḥ |
tejasā pṛthivī yena vyāptā sa giri kānanā ॥1-36-16॥
Translation
Thus addressed, the Greatly Powerful Lord of Gods released that energy, by which the Earth, along with her mountains and forests, was pervaded.

ऐसा कहे जाने पर, महाबली सुरपति (देवताओं के स्वामी, शिव) ने उस तेज को छोड़ दिया, जिससे पर्वतों और वनों सहित सम्पूर्ण पृथ्वी व्याप्त हो गई।
English Commentary
Upon hearing the gods' solution, Shiva, described here as "Mahabalah" (The Greatly Strong One) and "Sura pati" (Lord of Gods - used contextually for Shiva as the Master of the situation), releases the energy. The verb "Pramumocha" implies a deliberate letting go. The consequence is immediate and total: the energy does not just sit on the surface but pervades ("Vyapta") the entire terrestrial plane, including its mountains and forests. This signifies the infusion of divine potency into matter, causing the Earth to glow or heat up with the intensity of the discharge.

देवताओं का सुझाव मानकर, 'महाबलः' (महाबली) शिव ने उस संचित ऊर्जा को 'प्रमुमोच' (छोड़ दिया/मुक्त कर दिया)। परिणाम स्वरूप, वह तेज इतना व्यापक और सूक्ष्म था कि उसने क्षण भर में ही 'स गिरि कानना' (पहाड़ों और जंगलों सहित) पूरी पृथ्वी को आच्छादित कर लिया। यहाँ शिव को 'सुर पति' कहा गया है, यद्यपि यह उपाधि प्रायः इंद्र के लिए होती है, किन्तु यहाँ शिव की सर्वोपरिता दिखाने के लिए प्रयुक्त है। पृथ्वी का उस तेज से व्याप्त होना यह दर्शाता है कि शिव का अंश अब भौतिक जगत में प्रवेश कर चुका है।
